We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Engineer to join our distributed, cross-functional Agile team. This role focuses on data processing and manipulation for AI feature development and business analytics solutions. Your journey will initially contemplate the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) context and eventually expand to Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS). The successful candidate will exhibit strong skills in data engineering, mentoring others, and working seamlessly with remote teams across different time zones.


Responsibilities:

• Lead complex features, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, secure code punctually.

• Proficiently understand the problem space and devise effective, scalable solutions.

• Foster a continuous learning culture through knowledge sharing, with effective communication across stakeholders.

• Collaborate with the team and leadership to define best practices and future growth recommendations.

• Assist the team in achieving quality goals and optimizing effort estimation.

• Contribute to the hiring process, enhancing the strength and diversity of the global team.

• Advocate for code quality, reusability, and simplification within our platform.

• Develop a deep understanding of our core domain, actively engage in design discussions, and contribute to domain-specific knowledge.

• Extensively participate in cross-departmental collaboration within our organisation.


Qualifications:

• Proven experience in the functional domain, with developed expertise in relevant technologies and methodologies.

• Strong understanding of data modeling (OLTP/OLAP) concepts and data warehousing.

• Experience building scalable data pipelines for streaming and batch processing scenarios.

• Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL data modeling, architecture, and performance tuning.

• Experience in Big data ELT on data bricks leveraging PySpark, SparkSQL, Synapse/Fabric.

• Competence in building reusable Python code for data quality and validation.

• Experience with data governance tools like Unity Catalog.

• Familiarity with an analytical tool like PowerBI.

• Experience in leading joint analysis and design initiatives, owning end-to-end delivery scopes, plans, and schedules.

• Proficiency in Test Driven Development and unit tests.

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

• Experience with AI/ML is a plus.

• Willingness to continually update knowledge on the latest technologies to solve business challenges.
