about MBI
Established by Jim Bult in 1980 with a single truck, MBI is an Illinois-based private corporation with nationwide service. It's now the country's largest long-haul waste transporter, boasting over 1,500 haulers.
MBI operates 40+ nationwide terminals, handles over 100,000 tons of trash daily, and offers comprehensive waste-handling services. Its fleet includes more than 140 pieces of loading equipment, 115 trailer tippers, and other supportive equipment.
When MBI grew to 70 trucks, they faced scheduling, dispatching, and back-office challenges due to manual, paper-based operations. Staff constantly contacted drivers for updates and looked for lost or incomplete paper tickets. This resulted in delayed job assignments for drivers and up to 90-day accounting delays. Enough was enough.
Loads per truck per day increased from 2.1 to 4.7. Overhead cost per load reduced from $11.67 to $2.92. Annual overhead cost cut from $630,000 to $280,000
